Source Civique
Method and sources
We take no side. So that anyone can check it, here are the rules we apply to everyone, and what we have read for each person.
Who is on the site
- Declared candidacies — A primary source we read — the person, their campaign or their party — presents a candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.
- Candidacies to be confirmed — A candidacy is announced, but conditionally, without a stated year, or by a source that is not enough to establish it.
- People mentioned with no declared candidacy — Tested in polls or mentioned in the campaign; the sources read show no declared candidacy, or show a withdrawal or support for another candidate.
Names are in alphabetical order of surname. The official list of candidates will only be known when the Constitutional Council publishes it, by 26 March 2027 at the latest.
Where the proposals come from
First, texts published by the candidates themselves, their campaign or their party: programmes, campaign sites, statements. When a statement exists only in an interview, the source is the interview as the media published it, and it is named. Each proposal is summarised in French, staying close to the text, and links to its source. The English is our translation.
Each proposal says what kind of text it comes from. The first three shown on a topic follow the same order for everyone:
- the person's 2027 programme or campaign document;
- their other campaign proposals and statements;
- their party's texts, marked « personal adoption not established » when nothing shows they adopt them;
- earlier texts, labelled as such.
Within one kind of text, detailed measures come before overall summaries, then the source's own order. When two published versions differ, they are shown together with their dates.
There is no score, no ranking and no « candidate who matches you ».
Topics are the 21 major topics of the Comparative Agendas Project, an international political-science classification, in alphabetical order.
When there is nothing to show
- No published position found — the texts read say nothing on this topic.
- Not yet sorted — texts have been read but not yet sorted by topic.
- Not yet read — the person's documents have not been read yet.
We never fill a gap with a guess.
Pensions, question by question
Every proposal read that mentions pensions was re-read one by one and placed under one of 4 questions: retirement age and contribution period, pension levels, funding and system, other measures.
Polls
- Only polls whose notice is published by the Commission des sondages.
- Every published scenario, with no selection. A person missing from a scenario is not at 0%: they were not tested.
- No average computed by us: each pollster, its own figures.
Corrections and support
Every published fact carries a « Report an error » link. Every report is checked against the primary source, and verified corrections are recorded in the corrections log.
Source Civique is independent work; you can support this work. Support is open to everyone and changes nothing in what is published.
The agenda
An event announced by a party is attributed to a person only if the announcement names them. Each event shows when we read its announcement.
What we have read, for each person
The same measures for everyone: topics with a documented proposal (out of 21), pension questions covered (out of 4), and documents read. A low figure can come from a short or not-yet-published programme, or from texts we have not read yet.
Reading up to 29 October 2026.
